Automize wants to be greener
As Automize has grown since our infancy in 2015, we have at the same time felt an increasing urge to do more for the outside world that has made our existence possible. This is one of the reasons why Automize has signed Microsoft’s Partner Pledge. This statement details how companies such as Automize dedicate themselves to improving the world we touch and making a difference where we can. Furthermore, Automize has also started working on how we can incorporate the UN’s 17 world goals into our strategy and the way we develop, produce, deliver and operate our solutions in the future.
As a partner with Microsoft, Automize has already taken several steps towards reducing our CO2 footprint and many of our customers’ footprint. We do this by only developing our own solutions in the Cloud, which are data centers managed by Microsoft. Microsoft has dedicated itself to being CO2 neutral by 2030 and Co2 negative by 2050, this is reflected in these aforementioned data centers, which will be run exclusively on green energy and use 90% less water for cooling than what they use today . As a partner with Microsoft, Automize is part of the solution, which many of our customers also know is that we run their IT and develop their IT solutions.
What is Microsoft Partner Pledge?
At Automize, we feel we can do more, which is why we have signed Microsoft’s Partner Pledge, which contains 5 primary areas where IT companies can make a difference:
Digital Skills Help prepare for future opportunities through Microsoft’s Digital Skills program or your own digital skills programs.
Sustainability Commit to promoting sustainability and reducing our CO2 footprint.
Responsible and Ethical AI Ensure that artificial intelligence is developed and implemented in responsible and ethical ways with justice and accountability at its core.
Cybersecurity Collaborate to combat the high threat of cyber security and cyber espionage through technology, partnerships and awareness.
Diversity and Inclusion Reflect and support society by working to improve the diversity of our technological workforce.
What are the UN’s 17 World Goals?
The UN’s 17 world goals are a number of specific areas that all UN member states agree must be achieved. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all UN Member States in 2015, provides a common plan for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and in the future. At its core are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action from all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership.
They recognize that the elimination of poverty and other deprivations must go hand in hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our gardens and forests.
Where does Automize make a difference today?
As mentioned, Automize is already a Microsoft Partner and we have dedicated ourselves to developing Cloud solutions so we can take advantage of all the benefits and environmentally friendly conditions it brings.
Automize has also signed the Microsoft Partner Pledge, stating that we will focus on specific areas where possible. These areas also correlate with many of the UN’s 17 world goals, which is why Automize has chosen to work in both areas. Automize is already working on areas such as;
- Digital skills – By continuously educating our employees so that they always possess the latest knowledge. Automize educates and so our own IT students, this is a particularly important area as the IT industry desperately lacks skilled labor, therefore Automize has chosen to help ensure that young students have the opportunity to gain the latest knowledge , which we can offer. We also lecture at various schools to talk about IT, especially Cloud technologies.
- Sustainability – As a Microsoft Partner, we take advantage of the economies of scale that Microsoft can offer in their data centers, which Microsoft focuses on making CO2 neutral.
- Cybersecurity – By developing our solutions in the cloud, we have already come a long way in terms of security, however with an increasing trend in cyber attacks and harmful practices from other countries, we at Automize should always make sure to develop and increase our security measures so our customers’ IT platform is never in danger.
Where would Automize like to do more?
Although Automize has already taken measurable steps towards becoming more environmentally friendly, we feel we can do more. In order to provide a transparent overview, Automize will in future start using measurement tools, thus our own and our customers’ CO2 emissions measured on our IT infrastructure. This will make it easier to measure how much Co2 Automize releases. Automize also plans to enable existing and potential customers to calculate their current CO2 consumption and see what savings for the environment it has / can bring to move their IT operation up to the cloud.
Automize and DELPRO enter into an agreement to donate hardware to good causes
In many Danish and international companies, we will not be able to imagine being able to perform our work tasks without our computer as a work tool. It is an important tool that we all use in our daily lives, however, it is also a tool that uses many limited resources in its production. As an IT partner for many companies, it has been Automize’s task to procure and later, abolish hardware for many of our customers. This ended up with very expensive and usable equipment being thrown away even though it had the potential to be recycled.
Automize has therefore begun to explore opportunities to be able to donate this used hardware to school institutions and other organizations that could benefit from them. Of course, this will only happen after all the data has been removed from the hardware so that the security of our customers is not diminished. In order to complete this project, Automize has entered into a partnership with DELPRO, which will purchase and set up their hardware at Automize. DELPRO will donate their phased out hardware and let Automize donate it on behalf of both companies after the PCs have been deleted for data so they can be used immediately.
Automize is a smaller company compared to many of our competitors, nevertheless we believe we have a duty to make the world we are in a better place to be. Not only for us, but also for those who come after.
We hope that our customers, partners and other stakeholders are willing to support our initiative.
